Lugano NFT Week: Crypto Art and Non-fungible Tokens show up at Villa Ciani

Great success for the exhibition promoted by Lugano Living Lab, the City of Lugano's digital innovation laboratory.

Not only Bitcoins...

Lugano is increasingly a Blockchain&crypto-Friendly City. After the launch in late 2020, of the Mylugano app, as well as of LVGA Points - the citizen payment token - and the recent creation of 3Achain, the institutional blockchain promoted by the city, this time it’s the turn of the NFT (Non-Fungible Tokens) with a review of art and technology entirely dedicated to the understanding of this emerging and extremely topical phenomenon.

But what exactly NFT are? The so-called "Non-fungible Tokens" are cryptographic systems that provide evidence of authenticity and property. Applied in the field of digital art, they allow certifying the uniqueness and scarcity of a work, which, being digital, is easily replicable or reproducible, but which is, so to speak, made rare by its recording in the Blockchain. NFT is therefore not the work and not even an artistic phenomenon, but the corresponding certification registered on the blockchain.

With a series of exhibitions dedicated to the diverse application fields (for example, the first Swiss crypto-stamp, was officially presented), as well as various themed talks and workshops in which one could create his/her own NFT, the event organized by L*3 Lugano Living Lab in the halls of Villa Ciani proved to be an unmissable opportunity to look at this new sector of digital art, learn about the protagonists, languages, application fields... and - why not? - to try to understand a little more of that.
