What was the challenge at the Asilo Ciani?
The Asilo Ciani is a historic building characterised by a colonnade patio and a metal and glass skylight. The main challenge was to balance this spectacular aesthetic with conference functionality. These noble materials created a strong sound reverberation, making the space acoustically difficult. Our goal was to transform the hall into a perfect environment for communication, while keeping the original architectural charm intact.
How was it resolved?
The intervention followed a scientific approach based on Caimi Brevetti technologies. Thanks to the software designed by Caimi laboratories, sound pressure levels and reverberation time were first mapped. Subsequently, the exact amount of Snowsound sound-absorbing material required was calculated based on the volume of the room, in relation to the improvement objective to be achieved.
Finally, once the technical requirements had been defined, our consultants and the architects of the City of Lugano selected the most suitable aesthetic products for an ideal solution from all points of view. The choice fell on ceiling and wall panels, installed by Chiodoni Luigi SA technicians, which blend in so discreetly that they appear to be part of the original architecture.
The result is a balance between engineering precision and aesthetic sensitivity, which now allows the Asilo Ciani to host events with impeccable sound quality.
