What is the secret to a successful corporate event?
Everything that happens beforehand. In the world of corporate events, what the audience perceives is only the final part of a much broader process. The atmosphere, the setting and the experience are the result of work that begins much earlier, in the strategic planning phase. The role of Event Management today is to listen, interpret and guide.
Every project starts with understanding the client's objectives, brand values and the message they want to communicate. In some cases, the client arrives with a clear idea of the format; in others, with a need yet to be defined. In both scenarios, our task is to develop and translate this vision into a concrete form that is effective and consistent with the location and the people who will experience the event. The concept arises precisely from this initial dialogue, a shared construction that takes into account the context, the audience and the space.
What are the key elements for success?
The design phase is a key moment because this is where planning and coordination come into play, along with setting timelines, selecting suppliers, technical management and controlling risks and unforeseen events, which are always possible when a set design is a world first and is tailor-made in every detail.
The success of an event depends on collaboration between professionals, mutual trust and the ability to work as a single team, adapting to the characteristics of the host venue.
Can you give an example of an unconventional event?
A significant example is a corporate event hosted at the Palazzo dei Congressi in Lugano last December. Here, the stage in Plenary Hall A was completely transformed through a unique concept, with specially designed materials and furnishings inspired by an American late-night show, reinterpreted and adapted to our context. The space thus took on a completely new identity, designed to enhance the content and experience of the guests, who were able to appreciate it from the moment the curtain opened.
For us Event Managers, as well as for all the partners involved, experiences of this kind represent moments of professional and creative growth. Because a corporate event is never “just” an event: it is a communication tool, an opportunity to strengthen relationships and convey excellence. In an increasingly digital age, in-person events remain one of the most powerful means of creating authentic and lasting connections.
