Great success for Lugano Plan ₿, the first world forum dedicated to the development and everyday use of cryptocurrencies.

Crypto-enthusiasts from all over the world...

Last 28 and 29 October, over 1,700 people gathered at Lugano's Palazzo dei Congressi for the first Lugano Plan ₿ Forum, a two-day event dedicated entirely to the world of cryptocurrencies such as Tether, Bitcoin and the local LVGA. Several international experts addressed the various plenary and parallel sessions organised in both the Palazzo dei Congressi and the Villa Ciani, as well as on the adjacent Piazza Castello and in the imposing structure erected ad hoc in the Parco Ciani. Not only blockchain, wallets and crypto-payments were discussed, but also hot topics such as freedom of expression and the sustainability of data mining.

In this context, the Lugano City Council also intended to provide a series of free initiatives in Italian and open to the public: the Plan B Forum 'Open'. The idea was to give everyone the chance to increase their knowledge on these issues, being able to gain some concrete experience, such as carrying out the first digital transaction in Cryptocurrency to buy a normal pizza.

"I'd like to pay in Bitcoin..."

Lugano Plan ₿ is an initiative set up last March between the City of Lugano and Tether (which is a stablecoin, i.e. a cryptocurrency whose value is anchored to the US dollar) with the aim of promoting the use of cryptocurrencies and exploiting blockchain as a basis for transforming the city's financial infrastructure. Recently, the project has taken a further step, bringing Lugano to the top in Europe in the use of this innovative technology: in fact, the blockchain created by the city will now serve as the basis for a large part of the financial exchanges in the city, from small transactions at local retailers to more ambitious projects such as the payment of annual taxes.
