The Palazzo dei Congressi hosted the first edition in attendance after the covid pandemic of the Adventure Travel World Summit (ATWS), the international event organised annually by the Adventure Travel Trade Association (ATTA).
More than 750 delegates from all over the world and from the various fields of outdoor tourism gathered in Lugano from 3 to 6 October 2022 to address topics such as the role of tour operators, bloggers and influencers, the relationship with tourism boards and public institutions, and the involvement of leisure and adventure equipment suppliers.
The summit of 2022 focused on the four fundamental natural elements - air, water, fire and earth - from which, the participants themed not only the promotion of natural wonders, but also and above all their sustainable use and preservation. In particular, it should be emphasised that the strong commitment of the summit towards sustainable solutions to minimize its carbon footprint.
Among the main initiatives, within the main congress venue only electricity coming from renewable energy sources was used, such as from local hydroelectric power plants (tìacqua), or Biogas for heating. Participants also particularly appreciated the possibility of free use of local natural water through dispensers installed free of charge by Bluwater in our premises as well as the free public transportation services thanks to the Ticino Ticket.
