From Ticino to the world: IOR and IOSI update the global scientific community on lymphomas

This is the kind of news that fills with pride not only those involved in the fight against cancer, but also all the people of Ticino and those who have a bond with this land.

“Ticino's oncological research goes round the world. The Oncological Research Institute (IOR, affiliated to the Usi, University of Italian Switzerland, and member of Bios+) and the Oncological Institute of Southern Switzerland (IOSI, Ente Ospedaliero Cantonale) will update the medical and scientific world on lymphomas, more specifically on those of the marginal zone. The two institutes have been commissioned to write an article on this subject by the New England Journal of Medicine, the world's leading medical journal. Emanuele Zucca, physician and coordinator of the IOSI-IOR Lymphoma Group, expresses his (understandable) satisfaction. "It pleased us and filled us with pride. In print, this journal has a circulation of several million copies, and is read by doctors and scientists all over the world. For 200 years it has been the number one”.

“I would never have imagined, in my younger years, that one day our group would be asked by the New England Journal of Medicine to provide an update, for the whole world, on this subject,' Franco Cavalli, president of the IOR Foundation, comments. "The whole thing is, after all, linked to the International Conference on Malignant Lymphoma in Lugano. (ICML). When I first organised it in 1981, I realised that to continue with it, we would have to specialise in lymphomas." (Source:TicinoNews).
